This year the Florida AI society conference (FLAIRS) was in Melbourne Beach: how could I miss an early taste of summer?
It had been a while since I last went to the States and this was my first US trip on my own.
I really enjoyed it there, especially the trip to NASA Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach!

This spring we went to the Cinque Terre, five little boroughs in Liguria (North-West Italy), with my family. We walked the "Route of Love", la Via dell'Amore, a scenic path along the beautiful coast. It was fantastic.

San Bassiano is the saint protector of Lodi, Italy, which celebrates the saint with a fair, a Mass and an event called Fanfullino della Riconoscenza.
In this occasion an outstanding citizen receives an award in the shape of a bronze sculpture portraying a mythical Renaissance captain, Fanfulla from Lodi.
This year, my father was designated to receive the award and we were all very proud. Many friends and relatives came to celebrate this event and he was really touched (I think it showed).

This summer I was on holiday on the Tuscan seaside with my family. One day we went to visit the enchanting city of Pietrasanta (near Lucca, in the heart of the marble region of Italy), famous for its sculptures. Masterpieces by Botero and Mitoraj are spread around this beautiful city. Well, unfortunately we are posing in front of some of the artwork...
On July 9 we threw our house-warming party! It was a great night and I really enjoyed having a new house with a big living room and my own kitchen to cook all sorts of stuff!
Marzia came to visit me in York for two weeks and we really had a great time! We went to a couple of parties (including Fabio's and Sayaka's birthday parties) and I'm just so glad she came over!
On May 28th I went with Pierre and Marie-Lyne to a tour to nearby Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay, on the North Yorkshire coastline. The trip was organized by the Graduate Student Association at York Uni.
The day was fantastic, sunny and incredibly windy. It was my first time on the seaside in the UK and I hope to repeat the experience soon (I even almost tanned)!
When he is abroad somewhere, he often meets the Italians living there for a pizza and a chat, mainly about Italy and Italians seen from abroad. So here are a couple of pictures of the dinner.
Pierre and I spent the rest of the weekend visiting the city, my first Scottish city. I found it really lively and contemporary, and definitely enjoyed my time!

Here I am planning to put a few more pictures of my friends from Switzerland.
Meanwhile, see these pictures of our "goodbye night" at Pierre's on August 2004!

These are some pictures of the beautiful day when I got my Engineering degree from EPFL. My friends Francesco and Paola had come to my place for the occasion, along with my cousin Rossana, my uncle and my Grandma.
I only wish I had more pictures. I look kind of tired though...
Here are a few pictures of the beautiful Lac Léman.

My father received a honoris causa degree in naval Engineering from the University of Trieste, Italy.
It was a really beautiful ceremony and many of his PhD students and research staff were there to celebrate. Also, I really liked Trieste, even though I was there just 24 hours.
